Legal responsibility

Entrust vehicles only to verified drivers

Section 21 StVG makes the vehicle operator responsible for entrusting vehicles only to drivers with a valid licence. Performing the check is not enough; you must also retain evidence.

Four steps per driver

The check itself is quick. What matters afterwards is the evidence in the record.

Assign the driver

Link each driver to the relevant vehicles, including pool vehicles.

Set the cycle

The interval comes from your car policy and applies to each driver.

Record the check

Record the reviewer, timestamp and licence categories rather than applying a blanket tick.

Store evidence and set the next due date

The entry stays with the driver, and the next check appears on the schedule immediately.

What each entry records

Estimated evidence is not evidence. Every entry therefore records who checked what and when.

Timestamp

The check date and time are stored as a timestamp that cannot be changed retrospectively.

Examiner

The entry names the person who performed the check.

Licence categories and expiry dates

Record driving licence categories and their expiry dates so upcoming expiries are visible in advance.

Result

Passed, pending or not presented. Without a result, the check remains open.

Next appointment

Calculated from the cycle and shown on both the driver and deadline list.

When things get serious

Who was driving at this time?

When an enquiry arrives, the recorded assignment for that time matters — not a guess. If no entry exists, the answer is “Pool, unknown”. Driver assignments are deleted three years after the usage period ends by default, unless a related fine remains open. The retention period is configurable.
